Description

Plitvice Lakes exhibit one of the world-famous Karst beauties of lakes, caves and waterfalls. The waters are saturated with dissolved calcium carbonate and various interactions with other material and organism create travertine barriers, resulting in a series of lakes with fascinating colors.

The Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1979. After surviving the Homeland War period, the park has became on of the most popular tourist destination in Croatia.
